NetDirector - Single Point of Access for Configuration Management

Emu's NetDirector Access from AnywhereNetDirector is a next generation, Web-based Linux and Solaris system administration tool providing secure, easy-to-use, one-to-many management of HTTP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kerberos, File and Print (Samba, NFS, FTP), Email, Users and Groups.   NetDirector is open and extensible so anyone with Java development experience can add a module to manage anything running on their Linux/Solaris servers.  Alternatively, Emu Software can develop a custom module for you, and in a lot less time (weeks, not months) and for a lot less money than you might think.  Contact  sales@emusoftware.com if you'd like a quote.

NetDirector provides the multi-server change capabilities of systems like cfengine with the ease of use of a GUI. You can apply changes immediately or schedule them for later, and with NetDirector you can rollback any change to any previous config. state.  NetDirector also gives you tight role-based permissions so that you know who's making changes to which servers and services.  And all changes are stored in the embedded database for easy review and auditing.  These capabilities dramatically ease regulatory compliance.

If your preference is to manually configure flat files, NetDirector gives you the flexibility to manage this way while preserving the benefits of role-based access controls, change scheduling and change rollback. When you need to make several changes to different servers, rather than opening an SSH session to each box, you can instead log in to NetDirector once,  edit the desired flat files and schedule everything for later.

NetDirector, which is based on a highly scalable and secure client-server model, has three primary components: Server Agents that reside on each server under management and are responsible for receiving and implementing configuration changes, a Server Manager that maintains status of each Server Agent and receives and relays user commands for configuration changes, and a highly intuitive Graphical User Interface, or GUI, that allows the grouping of servers according to virtually any organizational criteria (e.g. geography, service, or workgroup) and the simultaneous editing of configurations across any number of servers and/or groups of servers. Communication between the Agent and Server Manger is secured by encrypting the conversations with SSL.

NetDirector allows you to see your network from a simple web GUI, and see only the servers running the service you want to manage at a time. For example, if you need to make changes to your email system and select Postfix, the Server Tree (see Screenshots) will filter to only show you the servers in your network that are running Postfix.
