General Availability of Enterprise-Class Linux Configuration Management System - 2/14/2005
Durham, N.C. (February 14, 2005) - Emu has released their breakthrough Linux Configuration Management System, NetDirector, in Controlled Availability, with General Availability slated for March 31, 2005. Successfully tested in live customer environments, NetDirector offers unequaled power, flexibility and ease-of-use, ensuring Systems Administrators spend less time making routine changes to their growing Linux server networks, and more time enhancing user productivity.

R. Scott Coats, IT Department Manager for Machine and Welding Supply Company, one of the Southeast's largest distributors of industrial, medical and specialty gases (www.mwsc.com), has run NetDirector for several months. “Moving our entire IT environment to Linux has been made a lot easier with the help of intuitive and powerful system management tools like Emu's NetDirector. The ability to make simultaneous changes to multiple systems is a huge time saver that lets me focus my energy on rolling out new applications.”

NetDirector allows users to group their Linux servers however they have them deployed in their network, and then apply configuration changes to one server, a group of servers or all servers simultaneously.

Changes can be applied immediately or scheduled for later, and any change that causes or coincides with an undesired result can be rolled back at any time. NetDirector also delivers important security features, such as role-based login. This ensures that Systems Administrators only access the servers and/or services for which they are responsible and eases the establishment of audit trails.

“We are very excited to announce the availability of NetDirector at this Winter's LinuxWorld Conference and Expo,” said Greg Wallace, Emu's cofounder and Chief Marketing Officer. “With Linux growing so rapidly, intuitive, robust and secure Linux system management tools are a must. With NetDirector in place, network services like Web, DNS, DHCP, FTP, Email and Samba can all be migrated from expensive proprietary platforms to Linux with no staff retraining required. In the coming months, Emu will add more services to NetDirector, like NIS, NFS, Cups, iptables, OpenLDAP and more. The addition of these services will broaden the tool's appeal, as well as help our existing customers to easily transition more services to Linux.”

NetDirector currently supports Mandrake, Red Hat and SuSE, and is priced to preserve low Linux TCO. Contact an Emu representative for details, or visit us in booth 1608 at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in Boston, February 15-17, 2005.
